02 · How it works
Filtered before your port.
Attack traffic is dropped upstream of your server, so clean traffic keeps reaching it while an attack is being absorbed.
100 Gbps included
Every KVM VPS, media-server VPS and dedicated server gets 100 Gbps of always-on protection at no extra cost. Nothing to enable, no ticket.
Layers 3 and 4
Volumetric and protocol attacks — UDP floods, DNS and NTP amplification, SYN floods — are filtered upstream, before they reach your server’s port.
Five big attacks a month
An attack larger than 100 Gbps is still mitigated, up to five such attacks each month. From the sixth, the attacked IP is null-routed until the attack stops or you upgrade.
Upgrade per server
Need more headroom? Pick 500 Gbps, 1, 2, 5 or 10 Tbps as the “DDoS Protection” option when you configure the server. Each tier covers that one server.
Layer 7 on 10 Tbps
Application-layer protection against floods such as HTTP request floods comes with the 10 Tbps tier only. The included tier and 500 Gbps–5 Tbps are Layer 3/4.

What happens, step by step.
The same rules on every VPS and dedicated server. Nothing here depends on opening a ticket.
- Up to your tier’s capacity: the attack is filtered upstream at Layers 3 and 4 and your server keeps serving clean traffic. On the 10 Tbps tier, application-layer floods are filtered too.
- Above 100 Gbps on the included tier: the attack is still mitigated, for up to five such attacks in a month.
- The sixth attack above 100 Gbps in a month: the attacked IP address is null-routed, so traffic to it is dropped until the attack stops or you upgrade the server’s tier.

What DDoS protection is included with every server?
100 Gbps of always-on Layer 3 and 4 protection on every KVM VPS, media-server VPS and dedicated server, at no extra cost. Volumetric floods (UDP, DNS and NTP amplification) and protocol attacks such as SYN floods are filtered upstream of your server. There is nothing to switch on.

What happens if an attack is bigger than 100 Gbps?
The first five attacks above 100 Gbps in a month are still mitigated at no charge. From the sixth, the attacked IP address is null-routed until the attack stops or you move the server to a higher tier.

Is Layer 7 (HTTP flood) protection included?
Only on the 10 Tbps tier. The included 100 Gbps tier and the 500 Gbps to 5 Tbps tiers protect Layers 3 and 4. For a website on a smaller tier, a reverse proxy or CDN in front of the server is the usual way to handle application-layer floods.

How do I order a higher tier?
Choose it as the “DDoS Protection” option when you configure a VPS, media-server VPS or dedicated server in the client panel at my.noded.cloud. The default is the included 100 Gbps tier.

Is the price per server or per account?
Per server. A tier protects the server it is ordered with, and it is billed monthly alongside that server.

Do I need to enable or configure anything?
No. Protection is always on at every tier. You do not need to change DNS, install an agent or open a ticket when an attack starts.

Which tier do I need?
Start with the included 100 Gbps unless you already know your service attracts larger attacks. If you are hit by more than five attacks above 100 Gbps in a month, or you run something that is a known target, move up. Pick 10 Tbps if you need Layer 7 protection on the server itself.
